Legal Requirements for Workplace Safety and Accident Prevention

A Practical Executive Session on the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020

India’s labour law framework was historically governed through numerous separate legislations, which often led to overlap, interpretational inconsistencies, and compliance challenges for employers and professionals. As part of a wider labour law reform exercise, these legacy enactments have been consolidated into four labour codes, one of which is the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020. The OSH Code specifically consolidates laws relating to workplace safety, health, welfare, and working conditions, and seeks to create a more streamlined and uniform compliance framework for establishments across sectors.

This session will focus on the key provisions of the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 from a practical compliance perspective. The session is intended to help employers, HR professionals, and industry representatives understand the major changes brought under the Code and the manner in which these changes may affect establishment-level compliance and workforce management.
